Monday Jan 10, 2022
Monday Jan 10, 2022
Over the last two years I have interviewed nearly a hundred guests on a wide range of topics. Quite a number of the discussions have been on COVID, vaccines and the erosion of our freedoms so it is about time that I discuss this matter from my own personal opinion. This episode will be a little different, more informal, an opportunity for me to speak openly about my views and also to answer questions from our viewers on live chat during the show.Originally broadcast 10.1.22*Special thanks to Bosch Fawstin for recording our intro/outro on this podcast.Check out his art https://theboschfawstinstore.blogspot.com/To sign up for our weekly email, find our social media, podcasts, video, livestreaming platforms and more go to https://heartsofoak.org/ https://heartsofoak.org/find-us/ Please like, subscribe & share!

The Week According To . . . Caroline Farrow
Saturday Jan 08, 2022
Saturday Jan 08, 2022
For our first news review of the new year we welcome the return of the undauntable Caroline Farrow to pick through some of news stories that have got us talking this week and we will also question her about the heinous allegations of self-trolling!!We look at the councillor getting a visit from the police for stating 'Trans rights are boring', JK Rowling gets displaced by an Olympic legend, an important legal win for Christian freedoms, The Pope hit's out at selfish pet owning couples, Gruffalo author stands up for our muzzled children and we can't ignore Sajid Javid getting owned by a brave NHS anesthetist on Sky News.... lol !In 2010, frustrated by many of the media headlines and negative coverage of Catholicism, Caroline began a blog in defence of Catholic teaching and to reflect on UK current affairs and world events through the lens of a Catholic woman. What began as nothing more than personal musings designed to explain and propose controversial ethics and life issues to those who had struggled with them, or to de-bunk misleading narratives and headlines, soon mushroomed and popular posts would receive more than 30,000 unique visitors a day. Between 2011 and 2017, she was a member of the organisation Catholic Voices, set up to promote the defence of Catholic teaching in the public square and made numerous media interventions on their behalf and quickly became the 'go to' voice for media organisations looking to represent a female conservative Catholic point of view. Since 2013 Caroline has written a weekly column for the Catholic Universe and written for and featured in a number of other publications such as the Catholic Herald, the National Catholic Register, the Conservative Woman, Mercatornet, Crisis Magazine, LifeSiteNews and Church Militant. She used to write on Catholic culture at the now defunct Spectator Arts blog and has been featured in the Daily Mail, the Observer and the New Statesman. In 2013, Caroline was included as part of the first cohort of the BBC's '100 women' and she regularly features on BBC News, Sky News, ITV's Good Morning Britain, BBC Sunday Morning Live, the Big Questions and has made multiple appearances on Radio 4's flagship Today programme, Woman's Hour, the Moral Maze and the Sunday programme as well as featuring in one-off documentaries. Caroline also presented the coverage for March for Life UK for EWTN and has contributed to News Nightly and Celtic Connections. She also frequently contributes to Talk Radio, LBC and BBC local radio as well as BBC Radio Ulster, discussing matters pertaining to Catholicism, feminism and the challenges of motherhood and family life. Caroline has an eclectic career background. She began her professional life as a student accountant for a big 5 firm before succumbing to a desire for travel and adventure and became a member of cabin crew working both long and short-haul routes for internationally acclaimed airlines. Having got the travel bug out of her system, she returned to work within investment banking and private equity in the City of London until her first child was born. Caroline is currently the campaign director at CitizenGO, has 5 children of school-age, four girls and one boy and is married to a Catholic priest who converted from Anglicanism, a few years after they were married.Follow Caroline on GETTR and Twitter @CF_Farrow and online https://www.carolinefarrow.netOriginally broadcast 8.1.22

Gerard Batten - The Honours System Is Rotten to the Core and It’s Time to Ditch It
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
Thursday Jan 06, 2022
Gerard Batten returns to Hearts of Oak to delve into the subject of the British honours system. The new years honours list has the UK asking if some of the recipients are deserving of such an award. The honours list consists of knights and dames, appointments to the Order of the British Empire and gallantry awards to servicemen and women, and civilians.Great Britain is a class based society and the honours system is at the heart of it.British honours are thought by the public to be awarded on merit but this is often not the case. Prime Ministers have always used the honours system as a way of rewarding support, loyalty and financial donations. The process of awarding an honour is a closed system that is not transparent and so only a handful of people know the steps involved. Is this a fair way to base a society on? Secretive. Divisive. Corrupt. Is it time the whole process was ditched?
Gerard Batten is a former politician who served as the Leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) between 2018 and 2019. He was a founding member of the party in 1993, and served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for London between 2004 and 2019. He was brought up on The Isle of Dogs in the East End of London and worked in sales with British Telecom for 28 years before entering the political arena. A much loved figure of British patriots for his stance on Brexit, his disdain of political correctness, common sense arguments and solutions and his ability to say it as he see's it. A true advocate for Free Speech........... snowflakes beware! Gerard has also written books on British history, how the Brexit withdrawal SHOULD of been done and how the English Constitution has been subverted, all available on Amazon. Courage is Contagious - It’s Time to Stand Tall in 2022
Saturday Jan 01, 2022
Saturday Jan 01, 2022
Courage is what we need more than anything else going into 2022. Covid totalitarianism will only increase and not very far away from our shores, Germans and Austrians who once enjoyed freedom face restrictions, discrimination and possibly jail. When you and your family are threatened with persecution you need courage, endurance, fortitude and confidence to not simply go with the flow. It was a quote from the most famous of all Christian preachers, Billy Graham that stood out as I was thinking of this topic. "Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened". My wish for this year is that each of you will have courage that is contagious and inspires others to think for themselves and to not comply with tyranny.

Terry Giles - United? The State of America Under Biden
Monday Dec 20, 2021
Monday Dec 20, 2021
It has been a whole year since Terry Giles was last with us so it's great to have him back to give an overview of how Biden is 'disuniting' the United States of America. What with the Covid chaos, immigration totally out of control, high taxes and government overreach in every area of American life, 2021 is marked as a huge fault line in US history. Can America pull out of the Biden nosedive? Tune in for Terry's expert assessment.
Terry Giles was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University at Fullerton and his Jurist Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law, where there is now a Terry Giles Honor Scholar. In 1975, he established what would become one of the largest and most successful criminal law firms on the West Coast. Some of Giles’ clients have included Richard Pryor, Kennedy Lay, J Howard Marshall III and Martin Luther King Jr’s remaining children. In 1983, Terry withdrew from the firm, disillusioned with the criminal legal system.Starting over, he took a small Toyota dealership and built it into the fifth largest in the world, he then helped build a Canon copier distributorship into the third largest in the country and negotiated the sale of ComputerLand, a company with $2.5 billion in annual sales. He also reestablished his legal practice, but this time focused exclusively on civil trial matters and only for clients and causes that he believed in. In 2008 he was runner up for “National Jury Trial Lawyer of the Year” for his work in the Catholic predator priest cases in California.Through the course of his career, he has bought/built 35 companies in a variety of industries. Today, his company, Giles Enterprises, has diversified interests in biotech, time management, European 5-Star hotels and restaurants, and financial portfolio investments. He is chairman of Landmark Worldwide Corporation, a San Francisco-based enterprise with 43 offices in 20 countries and Pacific Biomarkers, a diagnostic laboratory enterprise in Seattle, additionally, Terry serves on the Boards of Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, the Pepperdine University Board of Regents, and The Giles O’Malley Foundation.Terry has received the Medal of Honor Alumni Award from Pepperdine University, Alumnus of the Year from Pepperdine University School of Law, the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans Award, and the Distinguished Alumnus Award of California State University of Fullerton. He further serves as an adjunct professor of law at Pepperdine University School of Law.He was the campaign manager for his good friend, Ben Carson’s Presidential campaign in 2015 and Terry’s latest book, The Fifteen Percent: Overcoming Hardships and Achieving Lasting Success, was published in 2020.The number in the title comes from Giles’ observations during the Catholic sexual abuse scandal. Giles represented hundreds of the accusers in the case that spanned eight long, arduous years. The vast majority of the victims had their lives destroyed by the abuse they suffered at the hands of priests they and their parents trusted absolutely. But a minority, about 15 percent, went on to lead successful lives. For the majority, suffering unspeakable tragedy upended them. But Giles observed that for the 15 percent, the terrible abuse either did not permanently derail them or it actually propelled them to succeed. They were unstoppable and would have succeeded under any circumstances, Giles writes. Tragedy, rather than destroying them, was a near-miss that left them with low fear thresholds and hardened their resolve to live. The Fifteen Percent: Overcoming Hardships and Achieving Lasting Success available to purchase on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fifteen-Perc...Interview recorded 15.12.21*Special thanks to Bosch Fawstin for recording our intro/outro on this podcast.Check out his art https://theboschfawstinstore.blogspot.com/To sign up for our weekly email, find our social media, podcasts, video, livestreaming platforms and more go to https://heartsofoak.org/ https://heartsofoak.org/find-us/ Please like, subscribe & share!
